Description

You always seem to lose your sunglasses, or they get scratched from hanging around in your purse – so you use the Evil Eye Pouch as your new sunglasses holder. It fits perfectly in your purse and adds an unexpected touch of color, not to mention protects you against the evil eye!

This pouch is 100 % handmade with polyacrylic yarn by the Wayuu in the arid region of La Guajira in Venezuela. The design is linked to “Mal de Ojo” which is a South American popular belief of the “evil eye”. Usually, it is believed that an amulet should be worn in order to counteract the evil eye. Therefore, the eye on the clutch should protect its bearer from the envy of others.

Size: 17 cm width x 10 cm length

MAMA TIERRA is a Swiss NGO that works hand in hand with the Wayuu indigenous people in La Guajira desert, which lies between Colombia and Venezuela in the most northern part of South America. Mama Tierra supports the local Wayuu people by keeping their culture alive and boosting their economy, generating stable jobs, and ensuring the future of the next generation. The focus is on women because they ensure the well-being of the family, securing its income and educating the children. Women are the strongest link in many indigenous societies, but this is particularly true in the Wayuu culture as they have a matrilineal kinship structure. Handbags you will feel proud of!
